Demolition is well underway for an expansive ocean-front apartment in North MIami Beach that we redesigned to host a multi-generational family and their visiting relatives. The apartment intends to bring back the memory of south Florida’s colorful, modern architecture and a sense of domestic intimacy somewhat lost in contemporary large-scale developments.
The design takes cues from the Art Deco movement, marrying shape, texture, and color ensure a sense of place. The use of stone, terrazzo, plaster, and natural wood furthers the dialog with local architecture and the geography of Miami as a whole.
The layout of residence is designed as a mixture of smaller, more cohesive spaces arranged throughout an otherwise open floor plan to maximize light and views.
With demolition almost completed, next up is the framing and the lay out the walls!
