Working with the concession holder and NYC’s Department of Parks and Recreation, we planned and designed this new waterfront complex set on the banks of the Hudson River. To allow the beauty of site and its views to remain the most striking feature, the single story structures are designed to visually dissolve. The cluster of open, casual structures features a restaurant, café and event space, around a new courtyard as its centerpiece. Opening glass walls blur the separation between indoors and outdoors, while natural hues of weathered wood, rusted steel and plant-covered walls echo the area’s vernacular waterfront architecture.
