Dyckman Landing and La MarinaNew York, NY
Working with the concession holder, municipal agencies, and NYC’s Department of Parks and Recreation, we planned and designed this new waterfront complex set on the banks of the Hudson River. To allow the beauty of site and its views to remain the most striking feature, the single story structures are designed to visually dissolve. The cluster of open, casual structures features a restaurant, café and event space, around a new courtyard as its centerpiece. Under soft ambient lighting, the lounge and restaurant’s opening glass walls blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors, exploiting the waterfront setting and views. Natural hues of weathered wood, rusted steel and plant-covered walls echo the area’s vernacular waterfront architecture.
